Mac OS Extended Journaled vs APFS
Why old file system Mac OS Journaled is faster than new file system APFS?
I have two Pegasus 32TB storage, 1 formatted with Mac OS Journaled and the other 1 formatted with APFS. Each storage has the same amount of data 12TB plus and around 5 million files each storage.
Every time I restarted the Mac Pro Server, the old file system will come first then 12 seconds the new file system. When accessing the folders with thousands of files inside becomes horrible because the APFS takes longer from 30 seconds to a minute difference.
The more when I shared to a 30 workstations iMac more horrible because sometimes will hang but in old file system its ok.
Also the search engine is not stable need to restart the server every now and then to work.
Hi Apple can you do something about this?
Tested on:
New Mac Pro Rack Mount with macOS Monterey and Ventura
30 Workstation of iMac all are in macOS Big Sur.
All users are in Active Directory with group permission.
