Have an older Macbook Air( 2014) that we have fixed so the kids can use it. It's been years and cannot remember the password. It prompts to use my apple ID but will not accept it( probably because it's not connected to the internet), how do I get back into this?

Connect the Mac to the internet first so it recognizes your AppleID.
Thunderbolt-Ethernet adapters are still available if your Mac doesn't have built-in ethernet.

I was able to get in but the keychain isn't recognizing any password and won't let me connect to the internet
