CleanMyMac to remove Steam

Hello. I thought I had uninstalled a program named "Steam" but I keep getting popups that say stuff like "Background Items Added" and "You can mange in Login Items Settings" which I thought I had clicked off for Steam. I googled the issue and this program called CleanMyMac seems to know what to do, but I wasnt sure if I should install it. Has anyone had any luck removing these annoying popups from Steam without using a "cleaner" program? I have a two year old MacBook Pro updated to the Ventura OS. Thanks!

No, you should not use Clean My Mac. It is not a trustworthy program.

Apple made some changes with Ventura where you're notified of things being added to Login Items. These are things that run in the background. They don't mean that Steam itself is going to launch at log-in. They are nothing to worry about. However, if I recall correctly, the most recent update to Ventura will stop those alerts. You can also use the instructions on Steam's developer's site to remove the application completely.

Once again, do not use Clean My Mac. See the article below for some additional thoughts.

Completely agree with the others regarding CMM. Always use the developer's official method(s) for uninstalling an app.

FYI, regarding the notifications for background apps and managing background apps....this new feature is currently broken or not fully implemented at this time. In fact Apple has not provided the third party developers with any information on how to support this new feature. Some apps may not have any issues, while others do....I've heard even some of Apple's own default apps may have some issues with this new background apps feature. It is a known bug, but there is nothing anyone can do about it....most of the "fixes" found online will just result in more issues and malfunctioning apps according to a well respected contributor who is also a third party Apple app developer.
