iPhone in speaker switches frequently by itself to iPhone

As stated, 2 iPhones we have will be on speaker, sitting, not being touched, then we stop hearing the caller on the other end and we see that the iphone switched from speaker to the default iphone. This is another in a spate of recent ‘huh?’ events we’ve been seeing for the last few months. Note: it’s not that we’re using them at the same time and they both cut out at once, but both phones are doing it at apparently random intervals. One of them also switches from BT headset back to internal. The 2nd might have that issue but I don’t use BT headsets much so I haven’t seen that.

We recommend restarting your iPhones and making sure your iPhones are updated to the latest version of iOS. Updating can sometimes resolve issues like this. Here's how if needed: Update your iPhone or iPad.

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

You may also want to unpair any Bluetooth devices you have connected to in the past in case it's automatically connecting. Go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the information button next to the name of the device, then tap Forget This Device.
