Genres keep changing in iTunes

When I change the genres to what I think they should be, iTunes changes it back at some point. Why does this keep happening. I have my songs in smart playlists and many of my songs are not transferred to my smart playlists because the genres are changed by iTunes. How do I keep this from happening? If I double-click on the song to play it in iTunes, the genre I had chosen comes back but then will eventually be set back to its original genre when the song was bought.

Hey there ladamaris,

It looks like you're posting in the macOS Ventura community and have questions regarding iTunes. Since macOS Ventura uses the Music app instead of iTunes, it's possible you're using a PC or older macOS version.

If you're using iTunes on a PC, you'll want to make sure you're changing the song info using the steps here: Change song and CD information in iTunes on PC - Apple Support

To sync your music between devices, follow the steps in Use Sync Library to access your music library across your devices to make sure the song info is updated correctly.

If using another device or OS version, feel free to reply with those details for additional help.

Take care!
