Ho do I stop my Mac from automatically spelling out "ty"as "thank you?"
How do I disable my Mac from automatically spelling out "ty"as "thank you?" It (ty) is not listed as a text replacement in settings. I'm running Ventura. 13.2.1
MacBook Air (M2)

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

Thank you! This was the problem. I have a new computer that I’ve been configuring the way I like. This included installing a program called aText, which is text expansion software. In the version I downloaded from their website it had “ty” activated as a sample abbreviation that could be used to quickly write “Thank You.” I removed it and the problem is solved!

Just curious, does this happen with all apps with text input? Sounds like a third-party app is "fixing" ty for you. It certainly doesn't happen with any of my installs.
Other than turning of all that, I wonder if a Text replacement of...
Replace: ty with: ty
Would work?
Creative idea but unfortunately it didn't work.
Ah, good question. :)
ty, ty, ::bows::
You're welcome. Glad it's resolved.
