apple watch wifi that requires username and password

At work, my wifi requires a username and password. The apple watch (7) instructions say that if my iphone is connected to a wifi, my watch will be able to also connect to that same wifi automatically.

However, this is not the case. My watch will not connect to the work wifi despite my iphone being connected. At home on my "regular" wifi, my watch automatically connects without me needing to type in a password after my iphone was connected to the wifi.

I can directly sign into the work wifi on the watch by typing into the watch my username and password. However, if i disconnect, in order to re-connect, I have to type in my username and password again. My watch will not save the password.

Furthermore, even if my watch is connect to my work wifi, and my phone is connect to this same wifi, my watch and phone will not communicate over the wifi.

There is no problem communicating using only wifi when I am on my home wifi network.

My questions are:

1) how can i get my watch to connect to my work wifi after my phone is already connected to this work wifi?

2) how do i save my work username/password on my apple watch so I don't need to type it in everytime i want to connect to my work wifi?

3) how do i get my apple watch and iphone to communicate over my work wifi. It works fine on home wifi, but not on my work wifi?

Thank you

AFAIK, there’s no means to enter a RADIUS / IEEE 802.1X authentication prompt on an Apple Watch, and no support for that.

Connect Apple devices to 802.1X networks - Apple Support

Per Apple: Your Apple Watch won't connect to public networks that require logins, subscriptions, or profiles. These networks, called captive networks, can include free and pay networks in places like businesses, schools, dorms, apartments, hotels, and stores.

Your IT organization might try a credentials-based or certificate-based MDM payload, but I’d doubt that will work.

Thanks. I am able to connect if i select the wifi ssid directly on my apple watch. It then asks for both username and password, which i can type in. My watch will then connect to the internet. However, it is unable to connect to my iphone despite my iphone being connect to the internet.

Also, if i disconnect the wifi on my apple watch, when i reconnect to the wifi again, I have to type in my username and password again. It will not save my username and password.
