Family Sharing help

Hi.

please can someone help with family sharing. I will first list out what devices we have to try and make sense of the setup.

me

iPhone 12

ipad pro

Apple Watch 6

wife

iphone 12

ipad mini

Apple Watch 6

son

ipad pro

apple watch

firsty we have just got our son the Apple Watch SE 2 cellular and my wife has added it to the family she is the organiser of. My sons watch shows in my wife’s Apple Watch app alongside hers but it refuses to show in my watch app.

secondly I am currently an adult in the family group but for some reason we cannot change me to a parent.

we have tried everything to get the watch showing in both our watch apps. Reset it, paired it again, deleted the family and started again etc.

we have also tried everything to change me to a parent instead of adult but again it is just not having it.

many ideas how to move forward with this please.

Thank you.

Mike.

Hi djfearny,

For help with the titles related to Family Sharing this is done by the Family Organizer. The steps below found in the article here: Manage Family Sharing settings - Apple Support

"Types of Family Sharing members

Members of a Family Sharing group can have different roles depending on their age.

Note: The age at which someone is considered an adult or child varies by country or region.

The Family Sharing screen in Settings. Five family members are listed, and four subscriptions are shared with the family.

  • Organizer: An adult who sets up a Family Sharing group. The organizer can invite family members, remove family members, and disband the group.

  • Adult: A member of the Family Sharing group who’s 18 years or older.

  • Parent/Guardian: An adult member of the Family Sharing group who can help manage parental controls for children in the group. When the organizer adds an adult to the Family Sharing group, they can designate them as a parent or guardian.

  • Child or teen: A member of the Family Sharing group under the age of 18. The organizer, parent, or guardian can create an Apple ID for a child who’s too young to create their own."
