Contacts list crashing fix?

So ever since I updated to ios 16 currently in 16.4 my contacts app is crashing whenever I select a name it crashes back to the home screen??? What is going on? I contacted support with a call back at 5:30 and I removed the beta profile and still no fix. I've also toggled the contacts list deleted it locally and toggled it back on. This still did not fix it....Please HELP

Please remove the email account that hosts your contacts and add them again. That may fix the issue.

Note: Contacts are neither stored locally on an iPhone nor in SIM. They are synced to an email account that you have Google, iCloud, AOL, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo or any Other

i had the same issue today. fixed it by going to settings -> mail accounts -> my gmail account and switched off contacts sync. got a warning all phone contacts are about to be deleted by this action. so i denied this and left contacts sync on. that's it. now i was able to edit the new created contact without the contact list crashing.
