To purchase audiobooks on the iPad, you'll want to follow the steps here:

1. Open Books, then tap  or turn iPad to landscape view to automatically view the sidebar.

2. Tap Book Store or Audiobook Store to browse titles, or tap Search to look for a specific title, author, or genre.

3. Tap a book cover to see more details, read a sample, listen to a preview, or mark as Want to Read.

4. Tap Buy to purchase a title, or tap Get to download a free title.

5. All purchases are made with the payment method associated with your Apple ID.
