MBP using ventura.
I recently updated the photo app GIMP.
Now when opening a photo in messages app, it opens the image in gimp, I dont want this, I want images to open in preview.
A photo image in finder is opened by preview, just in messages I have this problem.

Control key and click the image
As sub menu should appear - 1 image below
Choose More Info
Look down for " Open With " 2 image
Change the Default to Preview - 3 image
Then, to insure all images of this kind are opened in Preview - Look for Change ALL and click Change ALL.
Now images of this file type ( extension should open in Preview ) 4 image
Then have a few suggestions ;
1 - Get Support Choose a product and we’ll find you the best solution.Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .
2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue
Unfortunately this is not what I asked.
Photos in finder open with preview as I want.
Now in iMessage, photos open with gimp. I do NOT want this.
I want photos in messages to open with preview.
All the settings as you put are correct.
