Ask Apple Music to play Elvis Presley, it finds the most obscure versions of songs imaginable, even ones re-recorded with rap artists.
no matter what I ask of Apple Music this is all it ever does, looks for the stuff we’ve never heard and off it goes playing rubbish. It doesn’t seem to ever learn the style of music I like (unlike Spotify).
I spend most of my time skipping the garbage it plays.
So, why is Apple Music so obtuse?
Maybe try 'Loving' something when you hear something you like. I do that all the time which is probably one way of teaching it. I also manually add stuff I really like but I've never heard before to playlists. This action probably also teaches it.
So instead of asking Siri to just play Elvis, maybe try manually searching for his music then looking at it before pressing play. The Essentials albums of pretty much every artist are generally very good.

Oddly enough I left Spotify because it never seemed to be able to learn what I like, even after a year with them. On the other hand Apple Music just keeps getting better, barely a few weeks into using it, and that was over a year ago. At least I don't ask it to do anything with Siri. I personally look for the stuff I want to hear and when I put 'My Station' on I barely ever skip anything. So yes, it is 'learning'.
That is weird. Yet Spotify somehow always thought I wanted to listen to Joe Rogan podcasts....For the record, I have never listened to one single podcast in my life. Cleary, Spotify did not pick up on that.
Come to think of it, in my 12 years as an Apple user I've hardly ever used Siri for anything other than 'Name that tune' which he/she/it gets right about 99% of the time. Any other attempted use of Siri is about as effective as what you've mentioned in your first post. I gave up asking him/her/it to even do things like set my alarm.
We still have an old dial phone. I have a sharp portable cassette deck from the 70s (still works).

Amazing, I’ve been with it three years and it’s learnt nothing… it recommends; rap, garage, charts, hip-hop, everything I don’t ever listen to.
I shall give that a try… I did click the less like this on the Elvis “in the ghetto” with a load of rap in it… way to ruin a great song…
I despise tech really, I’m an old grump. It’s a willing slave but a poor master.
A necessary evil. I'm old enough to remember having used dial-up and rotary phones on pulse exchanges. I kinda miss using my cassette Walkman, but I still have it, and it still works.
