iPAD "Update Apple ID settings"

Hi Steve4NJ,

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. It's hard to say how to remove it without knowing the exact reason she's receiving this message. It may be prompting her to set up two-factor authentication. If so, she'll need to choose the option 'Not Now' to remove it.

We'd need to know more about what she's seeing to help you clear out the alert.

not knowing this elderly lady i would imagine she’s having the same issue as me and thousands of others! There is no reason or issue or anything … it’s just a constant, stressful, anger-inducing notification to enter your apple id, click “do not upgrade” to avoid the equally annoying two factor authentication which is also not wanted. I can get this darned notification up to 20 times a day!

You can say ignore the notification but if i don’t do it, i don’t get automatic updates to my very few apps! As soon as i’ve fo d the apple id i go into app store and usually 5 or so apps have updates. i do it, then the notification appears again and it’s back to the apple id then app store - over and over again every single day!

I do not have icloud enabled, i do not wish to use icloud. I restart my iphone and ipad constantly after each sign in but it just keeps happening, for no reason other than to annoy the **** out of me!

Consider updating the iPad to the current version - at the time of writing, this being iPadOS 16.4.1. This update, along with patching several critical security vulnerabilities, may also address the current issue.
