While using CarPlay with iPhone instead of sending a text or making a call, it asks for more information. I’ve found five contacts. What would you like to know about them instead of just calling or texting

My phone no longer connects directly when I ask to text or call someone from my contacts. It will say I have five similar contacts. Which one do I want. Then it asks what I want to do with that contact. It’s a long process instead of just texting initially. With CarPlay I say text Matt. And instead of texting this is what happens.

Hi there Teach8577,

Sometimes just the way information is asked or phrased can impact the way CarPlay/Siri responds. If you use the contact's last name (i.e. 'text Matt Smith') does that work to help with resolving the issue? If you do not have last names set for multiple contacts with the same name, you may want to set them. If the contact information is related to the same contact, you may also want to be more direct with the information you provide. If the contact has multiple numbers listed, you may want to try to say something like 'text Matt Smith's mobile number' to ensure it will relate the command to the correct contact and number. You can see more information here: Make and receive phone calls with CarPlay - Apple Support.

If you have followed these steps and still have the issue, you may want to review the guidance offered on this page: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support. It offers further info and steps to try if CarPlay doesn't work as you expect.

We hope this information helps you out.

Best wishes!
