Apple Music stops playing songs after a few seconds on MacBook Pro

On my MacBook Pro when I start playing a song in Apple Music, the song stops playing after a few seconds. Rebooting the Mac and restarting Apple Music does not fix the problem. In the lower left corner of Apple Music, I see a window saying that it's waiting for bluetooth devices. If none are close and/or connected, why search for them? Also, why stop playing music if you can't connect to them. This is not very good for Apple. This behavior isn't repeated on my iPhone or iPad or iPod so why does the Mac does this. My Mac is running Ventura 13.2.1 Very annoying problem.

I think it's more the OS on the Mac. Why does Mac have to search for a bluetooth device? Just play music. Why stop playing music because you can't find the device. All the JBL device do is power on and off. It's the Mac looking for it and not finding it and stopping the music, is the problem. This behavior isn't repeated on the iPhone, iPod, or iPad. Only the Mac. If the iPhone can't find the bluetooth device, it just keeps playing music. Why does the Mac have to stop? This perplexes me so much. There's no benefit to this. Only exasperation on the customer. Simply turning the device off and making the Mac forget the device doesn't work right away. You have to keep trying the song until the Mac ask if you want to forget the device (Which you have already done) or use the computer. This should be default. You shouldn't have to be asked. PCs don't do this either. This makes zero sense. Just play the song.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand Apple Music is pausing when searching for Bluetooth devices, and we're happy to help. We would like to have you test if this continues after forgetting all Bluetooth devices. See how to do that here:

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Bluetooth in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

2. Hold the pointer over the device in the list, then click Disconnect.

3. If you don’t want a device to reconnect automatically, Control-click its name, then click Forget. You have to connect it again if you want to use it later.

If you continue to experience that behavior with just that particular Bluetooth device, you'll want to reach out to the device manufacturer: Contact a third-party vendor - Apple Support They would be in the best position to help troubleshoot behaviors related to their particular device.

Yes, I believe the issue was with my JBL speaker. I needed to have the Mac forget it. Even though the speaker was not on and not in range of the Mac, the Mac would still try to look for it and connect. This appears to be the only device that the Mac does this with. It doesn't do it with any of the bluetooth headphones that are listed.

I've pulled my hair out over this as it only happens randomly on Mac Music (Venture 13.3)Never on my iphone or iPad.

This Mac is also connected to a roku device in another room and occasionally gets reconnected, without me realizing. After reading about the bluetooth issues, I decided to look into the Systems Services icon top, right side of screen). A message appeared that a "roku device is not available" and I had the option to "Click this computer for now." I did, and now I'm playing all my songs through.

For those like me who aren't technically savvy, the Systems Services button look like two radio buttons lying on top of each other, horizontally. Assuming that's your issue, you should be home free. But make sure you are updated to latest software too...Good luck!
