SIM ejector tool made of LiquidMetal alloy

Engadget just posted report that the SIM ejector tools that is supplied with older models, iPad's and replacement iPhone 4's are made from the LiquidMetal Alloy that Apple and LiquidMetal just announced their partnership on. Not to sound like a silly little geek here but I keep one of the tools on my desk just to pick up and look at every now and then and it has always seemed like it was made out of something other than aluminum or stainless steel. It's surface just has a glossy sheen to it like polished stainless but doesn't seem as heavy as stainless and stronger than aluminum. Pretty neat stuff.

I, too, immediately noticed the ejector pin when I first unboxed my iPhone 3GS. I thought, "Wow, that's a tough tool to be so small," but I never thought anything else about it other than it seemed "overkill" for such a small job. Now it makes sense. Apple has been evaluating that metal for 2 years, and this was part of the evaluation process. Apple is pretty smart.
