How to get Reminders to actually remind me?

I have an iPhone 13 which automatically has the Reminders App on it. I want to use the app to remind me to do certain tasks with an actual sound or pop up notification. Such as to remind me to make a call in an hour. But I've spent 30 minutes trying to add reminders (set to 1 minute later, so I can immediately see if they worked) and my phone sits there without doing anything while the minute passes.

All the settings seem ok for the app, but it still refuses to ACTUALLY REMIND me with a sound or pop up. I also Google'd and Youtube'd to try and handle this and every article and video seemed to go into more advanced features of the Reminders app without addressing this ultra basic request.

Either A) I'm somehow missing some obvious setting, or B) this app is totally useless if it doesn't actual remind you to do something. Someone please let me know which it is.

PS - Yes, I am aware that I can set alarms to remind me, which I will do if the Reminders app is incapable.

Ok so I went to Settings>Notifications and it had a ton of my apps but Reminders was nowhere to be seen. The only way I could find Reminders was to go Settings>Reminders and it has some settings options.

Oddly enough, it has a setting at the bottom (of Reminders) called "Assigned Reminders" that says "Mute Notifications" and I have it turned off. So I would think my notifications for reminders wouldn't be Muted, but it seems like the opposite occurs.

That's a bit odd. Do you have anything enabled in Settings>Screen Time? I'd try restarting the phone. If all else fails, you could try Settings>General>Transfer or Reset Phone and select Reset>Reset All Settings. It's a pain to redo all the settings but, sometimes it's the only way.

It really sounds as if you don't have Notifications configured correctly. But, until you can find Reminders in Notifications, I don't know how to fix it.

That has nothing to do with your issue. What that does is, if you assign a reminder to someone else, is give you the ability to choose whether or not you get notifications for that reminder.

Interesting. I tried shutting off my phone and restarting and I still can't find Reminders anywhere in the Notifications options. Yeah, it's not worth the hassle to me to reset all my settings, but at least it makes the most sense to me that something is actually messed up and that Apple Reminders isn't just flawed.

If someone else has a different solution, I'm all ears. But otherwise, that's pretty much the end of that.
