iPhone XR unable to connect to cellular

My daughter’s cell phone suddenly lost cellular capability. Apple says it is a Verizon issue. Verizon says it is an Apple issue— that Apple needs to help owners of older phone update the carrier services so they are compatible with the network.

It's Time for a New SIM Card:

Yes. Get a new SIM card. That is keen here --and there is no digital SIM card, all there are, are physical ones.

An iPhone won't connect to cellular signals if the battery is too weak to power the antenna. 100% capacity can be good or bad – bad if it's a non genuine iPhone battery that's stuck on an incorrect value of 100%. To check if the battery has been replaced and genuine or not, go to:

Settings > General > About

...Does it say anything about the battery there? Source:

Key word is update carrier service, which is Verion not Apple. Contact Verizon and as to speak to a Tech and not a sales rep.
