Can I connect a Mac mini to my iMac

I have a 2015 iMac 27 inch running 12.6.3 and would like to use it as a monitor for a Mac mini. I have gotten 3 answers from Apple pre sales folks 2 say yes and one emphatically tole me no.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.12

Nope' that feature was discontinued some years ago.

New Mac's including the Mac mini, do not support Target Display Mode.

If you get a Mac mini, then you can use an Apple or aftermarket external Display.
