Remote control for Books

Walking on a treadmill can be rather boring. That is why I have mounted my iPad Pro (3rd gen) at eye level and at an arms length away from where I am while walking. Reading a book while walking on the treadmill makes the time fly by!

However, flipping pages has proven to be a bit of a challenge. I've already lost my balance once.

So I'm wondering ... what kind of Bluetooth remote control could I use to flip the page?

It can not be my iPhone, as step counts get out of sync if I carry this. Ideally too, it would be something very small and light. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

If you search third party apps like Amazon for “Remote control page turner, iPad,” you will find several options. I purchased one for my Kindle. It works great! It does not work on an iPad or I’d provide a link. But many are compatible with iPads. They are not all that expensive. And if you buy one from a company with an easy return policy, you can always take it back if that particular one does not work as you want.

Or, you could switch to audio books. I like those, too. No page turning.

I'm a big fan of Shortcuts and the other day I realized I could make Siri my remote control. So I built a shortcut to turn to the next page while I was using my phone. When I tried to use this on my iPad, it turns out Shortcuts does not support the "turn page" Books action on iPadOS. Honestly, just ridiculous. Why would you go through the trouble of implementing that on the phone, but then not have this on the iPad?! Madness. Aggravating even!

So I'm back to searching for a hardware clicker to flip pages. Maybe I'll spot an overpriced one at an airport one of these days.
