Can't crack the code to not get the gray screen after recording music.

I record music videos on my MacBook Pro using PhotoBooth. It's simple to use, but can't isolate what is causing the gray screens of death after I try to record some projects. I run audio through a Focusrite interface and have tried playing with the gains up and down. I've broken out pieces of songs to see if I could isolate an overload of some kind, but haven't found any way to knowingly trigger the breakdown. Very frustrating, especially after nailing a song, only to have it not be recorded.

This is the gray screen of death. Thoughts?

Hey there IslandHopper18,

Since this issue is occurring intermittently, make sure macOS is up to date as this could have an impact on this. You may also want to test this in safe mode and a new user account. Both of these could isolate the cause of the issue. You can find the steps for these in the following links:

Add a user or group on Mac

We hope this helps. Take care.
