Safari 16.3 (on iOS) not loading youtube videos correctly

Every time I click on a youtube video in Safari, the video doesn't load properly and requires me to watch in full screen, and sometimes on other videos it just doesn't even load at all! I turned my phone off and back on but that didn't fix it. Youtube works just fine on my other browser, but I'd prefer to use Safari for convenience' sake. Is there a fix for this or am I going to have to wait till the next Safari version drops and it (hopefully) gets patched?

The following steps address what you're describing specifically, and should provide a solution:

Delete history, cache, and cookies
* To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Safari, and tap Clear History and Website Data. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won't change your AutoFill information.

* To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data.
* To visit sites without leaving a history, turn Private Browsing on.

Thanks for replying, socks_83, and that additional info, it really helps! Just to be curious, do videos in the YouTube app work as expected:


YouTube: Watch, Listen, Stream on the App Store


This can help isolate this further. Also, have you tested this on both Wi-Fi and cellular data? Is there a difference?


Another thing to check is if a VPN or security software could be interfering with expected behavior: Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues - Apple Support
