Macbook Air M2 SUPER SLOW WIFI in Clamshell...still...in 2023

I have read various threads since 2012 where people have had a similar problem but I can't believe there is no solution. I want to run my Macbook Air in Clamshell mode because I'm a student and need the desk space for good old fashioned books. But my wifi drops from 200MBs to practically nothing (we're talking Kbs). What can I do? Is Apple still seriously putting the antenna somewhere that closing the Macbook affects it, despite the fact there are only two USB-C ports on this thing so obviously I will be using wifi??
