Why is Airdrop one of the best and most buggy things Apple has ever built.

I've used numerous iPhone models, and airdrop has always been an issue. It works for about 3/4 of the time before acting up. If you pick more than 100 images, the iOS feature simply freezes. It is sometimes necessary to restart the phone for it to function properly

More the images you choose more the usage of RAM and CPU. If You had provided the iPhone model then I would have given you a glimpse of the RAM size on your device

  • Chip A11 - 8 (2GB RAM) / 8 Plus (3GB RAM) / X (3GB RAM)
  • Chip A12 - XR (3GB RAM) / XS (4GB RAM)/ XS Max (4GB RAM)
  • Chip A13 - SE (2020) (3GB RAM) / 11 (4GB RAM)/ 11 Pro (4GB RAM)/11 Pro Max (4GB RAM)
  • Chip A14 - 12 Mini (4GB RAM) / 12 (4GB RAM) / 12 Pro (6GB RAM) / 12 Pro Max (6GB RAM)
  • Chip A15 - SE (2022) (4GB RAM) / 13 Mini (4GB RAM) / 13 (4GB RAM) / 13 Pro (6GB RAM) / 13 Pro Max (6GB RAM)
  • Chip A16 - 14 (6GB RAM)/ 14 Plus (6GB RAM) / 14 Pro (6GB RAM) / 14 Pro Max (6GB RAM)

If you want to transfer huge quantities of images or large-size videos iTunes/ Finder is the best. But if you have enabled iCloud Photos you may not be able to use iTunes/Finder.

The next best option for the wireless transfer of huge quantities would be to use Shared Albums which does not consume your iCloud Storage space yet effective.

Then there is this "Image Capture"

Connect your device to your computer using a cable, then turn the device on. You may be asked to unlock your device with a passcode or to trust the device. In the Image Capture app on your Mac, select the device in the Devices or Shared list.
