Correct; there is no supported means to update an iPhone 7 to iOS 16.

The hardware available on the older iPhone models is insufficient for iOS 16.

iPhone 7 can be updated to iOS 15, and no further.

iPhone 8 or newer are required for iOS 16.

If you want iOS 16, you need to upgrade to a newer iPhone. 📲
