Hello! I have Macbook Pro Mid 2012.
I just realized that RSSI value that shows up by clicking the wifi symbol and the one shows up on diagnostics->scan are not the same: for example, right now the one under Wifi symbol is -65 dBm, but the one that shows up on scan is -49. Why are they so different?

You may not be connected to the band you thought, and the other band has a different raw signal strength (RSSI).

How does that compare with the numbers in:
Menu > about this Mac > (System Report) > Network > Wi-Fi ??

No, this particular AP has just 2G, and otherwise I look at the channel number (and on the diagnostics screen, the network to which the device is currently connected appears in bold, so it can't go wrong.)
I would think that this discrepancy is a new thing: I would have noticed if it's been this way all the time. My recent changes were: upgrading of RAM and HD to SDD, and then changing the cable between the SDD and the motherboard (which is known to wear out for this particular make.) I wonder if any of these might cause it....
Like I said, diagnostics agrees with inSSIDer. I wonder if it's safe to assume that that's the right value?
Thank you for your reply. Now I checked Menu > about this Mac > (System Report) > Network > Wi-Fi, this one agress with Option+Click Wifi symbol !!
I was saying that the diagnostics-scan and inSSIDer agree more or less. So I had thought that these values should be the right one, but now I'm not sure.....
I have no special knowledge of this, but perhaps the values in the tables have some smoothing applied, where to other reports are a momentary snapshot.
