Lock Screen wallpaper keeps disappearing!

My wife’s Lock Screen wallpaper keeps disappearing and the screen is just black even though the clock and such will still be displayed. If she reboots the phone it will be fixed but only for a short while. After she updated to the newest iOS version it seemed to fix itself. She didn’t have any issues for a month. But the last few days it’s started happening again. This is incredibly bizarre and frustrating!

Hey bgaviator,

If you haven't already, make sure your wife's iPhone is fully updated. The software update for 16.3 mentions this issue, so updating should help to resolve this. Here are the details on that specific update: About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support

The most current version is 16.3.1. To see what's installed on her iPhone tap Settings > General > About, and if an update is needed be sure to back up first. This guide can help with both steps: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Let us know how it goes.

Take care!

She’s been on 16.3.1…

The issue seemed to be fixed for about a month. But it came back the other day. My wife mentioned something about when it happened the other night she had put the phone in “dark” mode because I was trying to sleep. She said before she went to bed she turned the phone back into light mode and put the phone down. The next morning her wallpaper was gone. I can’t say for sure her putting it dark mode triggered this but it’s something to note.
