You could go to iCloud.com, create a new calendar, and delete the old one. That will delete all entries on the old calendar including current/future events so you may want to enter those on the new one first. This article may help:
Use Calendar on iCloud.com - Apple Support
Unfortunately, there is no "Delete everything from this date to that date" button.
But you can choose not to sync everything in your calendar. For example, you can choose to only synchronize events that are a maximum of 6 months old. To set it, go to: Settings → Calendar → Sync → select the time limit that suits you. For example, if you don't want to see events that are older than 2 weeks, you choose "Events 2 Weeks Ago".
The next time your calendar syncs, all events older than two weeks should be removed from your device. You have to do this on all your devices if you don't want to see all your events there either.
i will first try it on my aged mac pro . if it works, i will then do it on my iphone, leaving my past life in whole in the ipad for a while.
By the way, besides wanting to shed years, will this not save some memory in the cloud, and also in
my devices?
Thanks for showing me this setting.
JS from DK: you mention one year on your own calendar. The settings offer 6 months, that feels too short for me. is there a way to choose a couple of years. i would prefer to keep a few years, if only to jog my memory as to when an event happened. Such as when did i last see my dentist?
elcpu: i don't want to delete my future as i enter a lot of "repeat" that matter to me.
Thanks.
i have a macbook pro . anything i can do there? High Sierra 10.13.6
You're welcome.
Hmm.. calendar events shouldn't take up so much space in iCloud. I myself only have 1 year back in my calendar, and it does not appear in the storage space in iCloud at all.
But you can check it here:
Settings → Apple ID → iCloud. Look in the top bar.
Unfortunately, there are only the options that go from 2 weeks to half a year. Yes, but the only reason I have about 1 year back is because I clean it up once in a while, it's manual work hehe, but my MacBook makes it a little easier than doing it on my iPhone.
No, not much other than going through month by month. There is simply a better overview with a larger screen, and when you can use a mouse, it goes faster. I haven't actually tried it, but I think you can mark several events at a time and choose delete.
I'm not at my MacBook right now so can't test it. Hold down CTRL and select a few events you want to delete, right click and select delete. That could speed up the process. Be careful not to mark all events.
