iPhone 7 audio problem

Dear Apple Community,

I am writing to seek assistance with an audio issue I am experiencing on my daughters iPhone 7. The audio is not working during phone calls or FaceTime.

I have tried various troubleshooting steps but have been unable to resolve the issue.

I have already restored the iPhone and updated it to the latest version of iOS software, but I am still unable to hear the caller or be heard during calls. I can, however, hear sounds when playing music and other media on the iPhone.

The audio button is also greyed out when making and receiving calls. I have tried using headphones but this doesn’t work either

I would appreciate any assistance or guidance on how to resolve this issue.

Jason ~ Assuming the iPhone hasn't been dropped or had water damage, it's very likely that the cause of the audio problem is the "significantly degraded" battery. ...That being the case, yes, I think a new battery will resolve the audio problem.

Jason ~ Does the iPhone 7 still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

Settings > Battery > Battery Health

Jason ~ If you're going to keep that iPhone 7, have the battery replaced promptly. The risk in not doing so is that the weak battery can suddenly fail completely and 'brick' the iPhone – especially during an iOS update.

It hasn't been dropped nor water damage. So hopefully a new battery will fix the audio issue. Thanks very much for your advice

Its says max capacity 77%. Also message saying the battery's health is significantly degraded.

I am planning on buying her a new iphone in the next few months so didn't really want to replace the battery as the iPhone is very old. So was hoping I could get it working for a bit longer
