Missing and out-of-order photos

Are you using iCloud Photos?

When you try to upload photos from your Mac, only the photos that are stored locally on your Mac will be availbale for uploading and appear in the Media browser.

To upload the photos, export them from Photos to a folder in the Finder - you can use a file name preset with a running number for the new filenames (sequential or album name with number), so the photos will keep the sorting. Then upload them from this folder to the Printer.

With the photos appearing correctly in the Photos app and this issue is only isolated on the website for the printer, we suggest to contact them to review this further for you. There's a chance that the photos will need to meet a requirement for a specific media format that's acceptable on the website.

First, to sumarize:

bryanr14 says this is hard so call Apple Support-- always an option.

Yer_Man says you don't have any control over how the web site orders your pictures. So true, and always frustrating.

léonie says you can take control over the ordering of your output by adding a sequence number to the file name. Then, perhaps, the web site will use alphabetical or numerical order, and get it right. Maybe not.

So Yer_Man is right, you have no control, but it's worth trying léonie's method.

I want to add that, if you're using léonie's method of sequence numbers to upload to a web site, you should probably uncheck the "Include" things so you won't be sending too much private information.

There is no such thing as file order. What you see has nothing to do with the way things were uploaded, but is a function of the capability of the receiving device to show you things in the way you prefer. Think of the Finder: a folder of files can be displayed in several 'orders' name, size, kind, date created, date modified and so on. So you can ask, which of these is 'in order'. They all are of course, just different ways of displaying the files.

Photographs are not uploaded in order. If you go to upload say 20, the OS will try to upload as many as it can at the same time, but how long each one takes will be dependent on a lot of things, including, but not limited to, the size of the file, and the capability of the other end to receive them. When you say they end up 'out-of-order' that's because the facility at the other end doesn't have the same capability to present them to you as Photos does.
