I have just opened my new mac and I'm trying to migrate from my old microsoft laptop to my macbook air with apple m2 ship, what do i do?

A brand new Mac should have macOS Ventura. You can click on the Apple menu at the top left of the screen and then click About this Mac to verify.


I'm guessing that you are using the following instructions and want to know which Migration Assistant version to install.

If you're on the setup screen continue until you see the screen that says migration assistant. then choose restore from windows PC. click continue. If you're in the regular OS go to launchpad > Other > Migration assistant. Make sure that they're both connected to wifi And bluetooth. This may take a while depending on how many files you have.
