Roku Apple TV and Apple Music app verification failure code

I am unable to sign into the Apple TV app on a Roku Express 3960RW. I have deleted and restarted the app more than once without a resolution. I have confirmed that the username and password are correct. This is the only devise with an issue…my iPads and iPhones have no issue. Also I was able to sign into the Apple TV on an older Roku devise. I notice on both the iPad and iPhone, under Settings > Apple ID, under the Roku 3960RW device is says, “The device cannot be used to receive Apple ID verification codes.” So I guess that is the reason, but how can sign in successfully? Please note, I am having the same issue with the Apple Music app…I am able to scan the QR code and it goes to activate.apple.com and successfully sign in, and under the Apple Music app Accounts it shows my apple ID is active and signed-in, yet when I go to Library or try to stream music is keeps telling me to sign-up or sign-in and scanning the QR code seems to work but still can’t stream.

Complete the steps in the section below to perform the recommended troubleshooting steps via the link above.


1. In the Apple TV app TV app, navigate to Settings. 
2. Go to Reset, then select Reset. 
3. Resetting the Apple TV app restores it to original settings and removes your personal information, TV shows, and movies from the smart TV.


We recommend the steps above because while resetting your Apple TV app can seem unimportant, it can resolve many issues. Also, please remember that when you reset the Apple TV app, all data, including your accounts and configuration, is erased.


Also, as for not being able to get a verification code, check out the link below.


Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support
