Is there a metric elevation lost?

Similar to the metric “elevation gained” and “current elevation”, is there also a metric to show the elevation lost (descent) during a run or hike?

Hi Chrisvaciv,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you'd like to view the descent of your elevation while using an Outdoor Run workout or Hike.

The Apple Watch will report the current elevation and the elevation gained. You can learn more about the Outdoor Run workout features here: Outdoor run metrics on Apple Watch - Apple Support

"Metrics for Outdoor Run workouts

The Outdoor Run workout includes these metrics:

  • Metric 1: Current heart rate, rolling mile, average page, distance
  • Metric 2: Running cadence, stride length, ground contact time, vertical oscillation
  • Heart Rate Zones: Current heart rate, time in zone, heart rate average
  • Split: Split number, split pace, split distance, current heart rate
  • Segment: Segment number, segment pace, segment distance, current heart rate
  • Elevation: Elevation profile over the last 30 minutes, elevation gained, current elevation
  • Power: Power profile over the last 30 minutes, current power, average power
  • Activity rings: Move, exercise, stand"

Take care!
