iTunes / Music keeps crashing

After just 5 seconds into playing any song it inexplicably stops. When I hit play again it starts where it left off, again for 5 seconds.

I have 2022 Macbook Air M2. I am signed in. All my music is on my HD and either Mp3 or AAC files. Started happening a few days ago. Any ideas?

Hi Popsito,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

To address this behavior with your music, quit the Music app from the menu bar and relaunch. If it continues, quit it again, restart your computer, and relaunch the app. Make sure that you have updated your computer with the latest software for the most recent performance fixes.

If you're running the latest software, restart your computer in safe mode and check whether this behavior continues there. This will limit the software allowed to run while running a health check.

How to use safe mode

Determine whether you're using a Mac with Apple silicon, then follow the appropriate steps:
Apple silicon
1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.
