airdrop settings - send files unlocked for editing

Hello, I airdrop a lot of photos to myself which I the edit on my Mac. Since the latest IoS update, the photos arrive as locked for editing There is a way around it (I copy the jpeg photos as a Tiffs, make changes, then save the new version as a jpeg again) but it is very laborious. I would simply like to send photos that are unlocked for editing. Does anyone know where and how to change the settings for this? Thank you!

Hello, Thanks so much for your response! Yes, I am indeed using the photo app on my iphone to send jpegs to my mac, where I open them in Finder with Preview. I've looked at the link you sent : the weird thing is, when I look at GetInfo, the 'lock' box is unticked ... but the file is nonetheless locked. When I open it, there is an arrow next to the document title name - but you cannot select or deselect it,it is pale gray and won't move. Pics attached to demostrate.

Hi Bellejournee,

Do you find the same issue, with being unable to edit, when you view the AirDropped photo in the Photos app? You show macOS Catalina, so here is that page with info on editing photos:
