Notes has once again changed how they automatically sort. Instructions below are incorrect but still online.

NOTES in the lastest release is unusable … - Apple Community

They moved the sort by date to system preferences, no longer in the app as directed on this "support" page. Also changed the language used within the menu, so you have to dig around.

Hi TypographyShop,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you need help to organize Notes and change the language on your iPhone, correct?

If you need to change the views on your Notes within the Notes app, this resource will guide you: Organize your notes in folders on iPhone

"In the notes list, tap the Folder Actions button, then do any of the following:

  • Change the folder view: Choose View as Gallery or View as List.
  • Group the notes by date: Tap Group By Date, then tap On.
  • To group all your notes by date by default, go to Settings  > Notes, then turn on Group Notes By Date.
  • Change the sort order of a folder: Tap “Sort by,” then choose Date Edited, Date Created, or Title. You can also reverse the sort order—for example, Oldest First or Newest First.
  • To choose a default sorting method for all your folders, go to Settings  > Notes > Sort Notes By."

If you need help to change the language of your iPhone, this resource will show you how to do so via Settings: Change the language and region on iPhone

  1. "Go to Settings  > General > Language & Region.
  2. Set the following:
    • The language for iPhone
    • Your preferred form of address. (Choose feminine, masculine, or neutral. Turn on Share with All Apps so all apps personalize how they address you. Available for some primary languages, for example, Spanish.)
    • The region
    • The calendar format
    • The temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit)
    • The measurement system (metric, U.S., or UK)
    • The first day of the week
    • Live Text (text you can select in images to copy or take action on)

3. To add another language and keyboard to your iPhone, tap Add Language, then select a language."

We hope this helps.

Take care!
