Can anyone recommend a good battery replacement for Macbook 5,2 A1181 (Mid 2009)

I want to buy a battery for my old Macbook 5,2 A1181 (Mid 2009) The last time I tried I got a battery that only lasted for a few months then swelled. Is there any reputable battery suppliers around or does Apple even still sell them? I know the Macbook is old but it still does what I need.

MacBook, OS X 10.11

Your best options are OWC or iFixIt, but even with these reputable vendors it is hard to say how good a battery may be for such an old laptop especially if the battery has been on the shelf for a while. I cannot see they would be selling too many these days.

Hey Jean Y.,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. With your MacBook being a mid 2009 model, that makes it obsolete. Apple has discontinued service for obsolete products. More information can be found here: Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty - Apple Support

With that being said, you might be able to find an Apple Authorized Service Provider that could help. Those can be found here: Find Locations - Apple

Take care!
