iCloud on Windows - can you choose to not download everything

Hi folks - I am using a desktop with Windows 10, have iCloud installed per the instructions and have setup iCloud Drive and Photos via the wee iCloud tool/settings.

I went looking for an option to allow me to see what files are there, but not actually have them downloaded).

I can't find one - so if I want to use File Explorer with iCloud Drive and just see the list of file names - I can't (a bit surprised by that, so wanted to ask if I was missing something)

(I can get a browser going and look at iCloud via a browser, just not be preferred mode of operation). I know the OneDrive app does that - where you can set individual files to be downloaded (or not), which I also use for Microsoft related material. Kind of assumed Apple would have the same,

Cheers
