Hello mkudler,

It looks like you've already taken a look at About genuine iPhone cameras which has more information about what could cause this type of message.

  • "You will see an Unknown Part  message if the camera installation is incomplete or if the camera:
  • Was replaced with a nongenuine camera
  • Was already used or installed in another iPhone
  • Isn't functioning as expected

This message doesn't affect your ability to use your iPhone or access your camera."

Based on your post, it sounds like your camera may not be functioning as expected. If this is the case, If the camera or flash on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch isn't working has some great steps that can often address issues with your camera.

  1. "Remove any case, accessory, or film that might block the camera or flash or that places a magnet near the camera.
  2. Test the camera by trying to take a photo.
  3. If the photo is blurry, clean the front and back camera lenses with a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens or if the camera lens appears to be misaligned or blocked, contact Apple Support to discuss service options.
  4. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch
  5. Test the camera again by taking a photo. If your device has a front and rear camera, check if one or both isn’t working. To switch cameras, tap the rotate button ."

If those steps don't resolve your issue, let us know exactly what occurs when you try to use the native Camera app, and whether the same behavior occurs in other apps that have access to your camera. We'll go from there.

Regards.
