I am trying to send a folder from the desktop in an email. When I click browse and choose the folder, my choice is to open or cancel. Open does not move the folder to the email. Only option is to cancel. Where am I going wrong?

Email is not aware of or prepared to carry forward the MacOS files and folders structure.
You could ZIP the folder and its contents, and the Reader could unzip on arrival.
