Backup all data from iPhone to MacBook Pro greyed-out

Suddenly when trying to backup my iPhone 11 Pro on iOS 15.6.1 - the button to "Backup all the data from iPhone to MacBook" is greyed out. When connecting it to the MacBook (Monterrey 12.5.1), it does sync, but all of the options for backups are greyed-out. I am able to do a Cloud backup when starting it on the iPhone itself. I finally want to update the OS on both the iPhone and MacBook and wanted to do a full back up my phone and iPad before doing so. This has never happened before. It has been a little over a month since my last backup. Please advise! Thanks!

Hello CNanPH,

Based on what you've shared you may not have enough available space on your Mac to complete a backup of your device via Finder. We recommend reviewing your current storage as outlined here: Free up storage space on your Mac - Apple Support

You can also find where current backups are stored, and remove any outdated information, here: Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Regards.
