Service Mark symbol

This discussion is closed, but in short it gives three ways to enter the Service Mark Symbol:

1) Copy and paste this ℠

2) Type SM and then superscript it

3) In Character Viewer enter Unicode U+2120

My observation is that the SM symbol (#1, above) is a bolder/different font than the TM symbol ... ™ ℠

Is there a way to make the SM symbol less bold? My guess is that it's probably option 2, above, with tinkering of font and size.

That's correct. Some fonts do not have both, so substitution of one from another font happens. You might want to put both together in TextEdit and test various fonts to find one that treats them the same.
