3 system so I can digitize my slides from my Epson Perfection 4490 Photo scanner - please help

I have a MacBook Pro with the Ventura operating system - I need the image capture software so I can digitize my slides from my Epson Perfection 4490 Photo scanner - please help. Epson scanner works fine but it is older - hardly used - I downloaded the software this week but when I downloaded the driver - on the setup icon - it has the circle with line across circle so I cannot get the menu to pop up so I can save and do whatever with my slides I scan. I have thousands and this was very disappointing.

I got my older Epson scanner to work with Ventura by using VueScan instead of Image Capture.

VueSan has been updated by Hamrick Software to include many drivers for older scanners for Ventura. (https://www.hamrick.com/)

VueScan is not a free software, but very, very useful when scanning slides, because it has presets for many kinds of slide film and drivers for older scanner models.
