Why am I blocked from leaving a group message and blocked from messaging in that group

Group messages coming in individually I have a group message that I have been using for years with two non-iPhone individuals with no problems. Now suddenly I am receiving messages from one of them separately even though they are replying to the group message. It was confirmed with the other individual that they are receiving the group messages so it is not a user error. I have both MMS messaging and Group messaging turned on. I have tried deleting the group message and starting a new one. I have also tried restarting my phone. My wifi and data connections are good and my cellular data is turned on. I think this started happening after the most recent update of iOS 16.4.1 (a). How do I fix this?
