I am trying to open Apple ID on the System preferences app on my iMac, Monterey installed about a year ago, updated from El Capitan. I think I have opened it since...not sure, but it just comes up with 'Error, could not open Apple ID preferences pane'. Why would this be? Thanks for any suggestions.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Thanks, but though I think I have been unable to access this for a while, it suddenly started behaving, and Apple ID is now responding. Other than turning the Mac off for another reason, I dont think I did anything specific; the old ways still work sometimes!
