I want to see all past events and appointments on my iPhone. Until last week, all was fine. Now, even though my settings show sync all events, I only see past appointments for 6 months. It doesn’t look like calendar was backed up to iCloud for some reason. Are my past events and appointments gone?

If you weren't backed up to iCloud you'll want to check to see if any of your other accounts have been backing up your events. You can learn how to setup multiple calendars and how to view them here: Set up multiple calendars on iPhone - Apple Support

What I don't understand - what caused all those past events to disappear? Does me no good to try and research past appointments if they are no longer available. Instead of relying on a computerized calendar on my phone, will I have to go back to paper calendars?
