How did I end up with massive duplicates and how do I purge said duplicates? One at a time?

Well, I downloaded Gemini II and didn't find it helpful. So, using Command and selecting duplicates, I deleted almost 1,200 songs. Painful, two hour process but my Song List looks great. When I go to Select duplicates I got no more except those that came on different albums.
