Unable to pair HomePod mini stereo as main Apple TV audio output on a child account.

So my son has an Apple TV and homepod mini stereo pair in his room and he can not use the homepod minis as the default output if he's using his own icloud account. The only fix I can find is make the main account use my icloud and use his account for itunes and Game Center. Another big problem with this is that he is unable to use his airpod pros as they're paired to the icloud account. Is there a work around for this or is he forced to just use my icloud account and no airpod pro support for his account.

Set up home theater audio with HomePod or HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K - Apple Support

It does mention configuring speakers in the Home app, so it does indeed rely in the iCloud account as used for HomeKit. Let Apple know if you would like to see that differently in the future. Feedback - Home App - Apple.

Any set or AirPods can be paired, regardless of account. It’s just that the iCloud account may help see AirPods much easier (zero config).

To pair manually, hold the AirPods in their charging case with the lid open, then press-and-hold the setup button on the back of the case: that will put them in pairing mode. Then pair them through the Bluetooth settings menu. Once paired, they will be remembered for a next time, and can be connected through e.g. Control Center (by name), which should be easier and faster.
