Just got an Apple Watch; now my daily step count is double what it used to be. Help!

I got my first Apple Watch 10 days ago, for the purpose of monitoring my health and fitness. For years, I have been viewing my daily steps on my iPhone using the Pedometer++ app, and I'm familiar with the step counts I attain for various activities. Since getting the Watch, my step count is grossly too high; yesterday my activity should have been around 8,000 steps, but the Health app showed 19,000 steps.

I'm assuming that there are settings somewhere that need tweaking, but I can't find them.

Any ideas?

Hey there Bonniesf,

Upon researching your question, we were able to find a link that lists the steps for making sure you're getting the most accurate step count from your Apple Watch: Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch

If after following those steps you continue to have the same issue, we recommend letting Apple Support know what's been tried as they'll be in the best position to assist further with this: Get Support

If Pedometer++ is still installed, I suggest you uninstall it.

Also Watch will pick up more arm movements than iPhone during the day at home and at work which are counted as "steps".

If I walk or run 4Km I get about 5k steps afterwards but pick up another 4-8k steps during the day." just moving around but the phone is more static or even in the desk.
