The YouTube app on my iPhone gives the “something was wrong“ message

I have been having issues with youtube for a while now and its getting pretty annoying. Anytime I use the youtube app to watch videos or shorts , i get the “something was wrong “ message. Sometimes it only shows for shorts but recently its been showing on both too often! I have made sure the app was updated, deleted the app and redownloaded it, restarted my phone, …. And none worked. I can sometimes get it to work again if i close the app from the background and open it back but that takes a few tries to work and it never would let me watch shorts if done that way. When I reset the networks settings it works again like its supposed to but it doesn’t last, it will fail again. Before today, i would need to do a reset every month, but recently its like every other day and its definitely something that needs to be fixed asap!

I have the latest Iphone model 14 pro with the latest iOS installed, updated app. And today for the first time trying to watch a video on apple music, i got the decor message! And yes Apple, i am an Apple Music subscriber.

Also, none of my friends and family are having that problem on their Iphones. So i don’t believe its a Youtube app issue.

Apple, give me a solution.

Hello HAK24,

You've tried some good steps already for issues with a third-party app.

This page here can help to cover the available steps to try: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

If you haven't yet, try connecting the device to another network (such as using Wi-Fi instead of cellular, or using a different Wi-Fi network if already connected to Wi-Fi) to help rule out conflicts with the current one.

If the device is using a VPN or other security software, try temporarily disabling or uninstalling them to help rule out conflicts with those apps.

If you continue to experience issues you may also try reaching out to the developers of the app with the help of this link: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Cheers.
